A CME Centre to be launched near Kuruman in the Joe Morolong district today on the 27 September 2016.
The centre will receive support from the Northern Cape Department of Social Development and will assist the unemployed, women, youth, older persons, people living with disabilities, change agents, zero-income households and community members.
Spokesman for the Department of Social Development, Gamiem Abrahams, said that MEC for Social Development, Gift van Staden, would hand over a cheque to the value of R496 000 to the non profit organisation as the implementing agent.
"The Loopeng Village is a new CME site and will be funded for a three-year period to entrench and institutionalise services and programme delivery by all stakeholders."
Abrahams indicated that the community was faced with a high rate of unemployment and poverty. "Only a few of the residents are working in Rustenburg in the North West Province and others in local mines around Kuruman, and the rest of the community depends on livestock farming for a living."
