The MEC must provide funding for child and youth care centers in the Province. These facilities must be registered and comply with the national norms and standards according to section 194 of the Children's Act No. 38 of 2005.
There are currently 12 Child & Youth Care Centers registered and funded in the Northern Cape Province. Funding is allocated to meet the physical needs of the children as well as subsidies for the salaries of social workers rendering therapeutic programmes.
