At the core of the mandate of the Department of Social Development s the creation of a caring society, however this is a transversal obligation: requiring the collective efforts of all sectors of society; Government, Civil Society (including the religious fraternity) and private sector. This is why the preamble in our Constitution enjoins all of us to work together to improve the quality of life for all citizens  and free the potential of each person, as we build a democratic South Africa, united in Diversity.
